The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Kevin Human, I’m 40 years old, and I have decided to take control of my life – in every aspect that I can affect!

Phase 1: Becoming self employed

In March of 2016 my wife, Rene’, and I decided that if we were going to continue to work as hard as we had been working, that we should work for ourselves. We evaluated a few options and decided to go “all in” on a brick and mortar franchise pet store. The decision was made based on the industry trends in regards to pets and my own personal retail experience with a company doing very well with pet related sales and virtually no advertising. Fast-forward to April 2017 and Ricki’s PET DEPOT opened for business! Fast-forward again and we find ourselves cresting the 1.5 year mark in business. We are striving to become the local “go-to” place for all things pets and to truly embody the locally owned and operated mantra. Determination and dedication to personal service, the kind you should expect in a locally owned business, are the factors that will drive us to achieve the independence we sought in becoming self employed.

Phase 2: Self-control

I hate New Year’s Resolutions! I always have and probably always will. For that reason alone I waited until half way through January of 2018 to finally decide things had to change. Both a physical and mental change had to be made and it had to be made immediately. I started getting up early to read and started going to the gym five days a week.
